Everyday this week I explored nature ( or the nature of ) the world around me.

I explored the wilds of the Suburbs and the City, but what you may not have seen was that my dog, Hamish Macbeth did some of the exploring with me.

On the upside, he mastered the art of ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ while I took my pictures.

On the down side, he peed on most of the nature I explored  after I was done taking it’s picture.

I will never be able to look at some of the pictures without the image of that burned into my brain.

I wanted this picture because the ferns and ivy woven together looked like a giant green fan.

Then Hamish walked into the frame and stuck his face into it.

I cropped out his backside.

You’re welcome.

I thought Hamish was trying to figure out what I was paying attention to. Then he reached down and pulled out half of a cheeseburger. I truly hate litterbugs. I think they should have toothpicks shoved under their fingernails.

That’s nothing compared to me trying to get my Hamish to drop  that yuck sandwich and once he did he grabbed it again and I had to pry his jaws open and make him give it up.

Read that? I had to fight with my dog to get him to give up a rotten cheeseburger.

I don’t know who left that there, but if I find you, I’ve got your lunch and I will feed it to you bite by bite.

Hamish walked straight into this shot and stared straight into my phone and up at me…it was an intense expression. He looked so concerned, it was quite a moment.

Then I realized a bird had dropped some poop on my shoulder.

Nature. Sometimes I wish you had a nose I could punch.

Hamish Macbeth.

He peed on nature, explored nature and put up with me stealing a rotten cheeseburger he hunted in nature  from his jaws.

This was his adventure in nature too.

  1. Hamish looks so much like my chocolate girl, LouLou. She is snoring now, after a vigorous afternoon in the longleaf pine woods. I used to participate in Soul Food Cafe and am thrilled to discover you (via Heather) in this space.
